Quran 2:246 After Moses the children of Israel wanted a
leader to fight in the cause of God saying they want to fight saying, we were
turned out of homes and our families but they turned back from battle and did
wrong deeds except a small group of them
Children want a leader in the fight for the cause of God
Courage comes from knowing what to do and having faith in your efforts
Those turned out from their homes did want to fight but didn’t have enough
integrity
Wrongdoers are aggressive in secret but don’t have the will to defend their
future
Quran 2:247,248 A leader came who God gifted abundantly
with knowledge and bodily prowess God pleased to grant authority to him, the
other people said we are better fitted than him in authority An obvious sign
came, the Ark of the Covenant, a symbol of faithfulness, assurance of God for
the security of the family of Moses, Aaron
Intelligence and physical prowess are traits of a good
leader
The ten commandments are a symbol of assurance and security for the family
Quran 2:249 Talut set forth with armies The water stream
is a test, only those who drink not more than a sip of it go with me All drank
except a few, the faithful ones crossed the river saying “we cannot cope with
Goliath” but others were convinced to give their life saying, how often has God
made a small force steadfast, persevere, vanquish a big one
Talut (Saul) had big armies but it was one small boy who
defeated the enemy
Talut knew his army was not ready for this war except a few, he relieved them
from duty
Some of the army thirsted for life and a few were ready to fight to the death
The small efforts of the steadfast, persevering can vanquish even big dangers
Quran 2:250,251 When they advanced to meet Goliath and
his forces they prayed God pour out constancy on us, make our steps firm, help
us They routed his forces and David slew Goliath through wisdom of power God
checked one set of people by means of another for the sake of averting mischief
against the bounty of the world
The big size of a man and his army made other men pray
for courage
Constancy of affirmations brought David to slay Goliath through wisdom about
power
God averts mischief against the bounty of life with checking people by means of
another
Quran 2:252,253 These are obvious signs We endowed with
gifts some above others to degrees of honor We gave obvious signs to Jesus and
strengthened him with the holy spirit If God willed succeeding generations
would not have fought among each other but they chose to wrangle after obvious
signs
The gifts of varying degree of honor are obvious signs
Jesus preached obvious signs supported by the holy spirit
Generations fought each other because the differed about obvious signs
Quran 2:254,255 Spend from your bounty before there is no
bargaining, friendship nor intercession God is eternal, no sleep can seize God
nor anything intercede in his presence without his permission God knows what
appears before his creatures, he has no fatigue in guarding and preserving them
Spend from your bounty against losing the opportunity for bargains, friends,
and intercession
Nothing can evade God’s design
Quran 2:256,257 The truth stands out in error, who
rejects evil has grasped a trustworthy handhold Let there be no compulsion in
religion God protects people from the depths of darkness who are faithful and
leads them forth to the light
God protects who are faithful to the truth
Surrounding evil are blankets of lies
Darkness fades in the light of God’s guidance
