The pain system and the pleasure system of the brain, neuroscience and anatomy

Love is located in the pleasure center of the brain and hate is in the pain center of the brain. The pain system encompasses the pleasure center to protect and defend it. If the pain system is overcome it damages the pleasure center. The brain receives the world via five senses and all five are on the head and face. The amygdale prefer looking at faces for threat signals. Amygdale fast-track the threat data to the periaqueductal gray control or modulate decending pain signals to the body. Periaqueductal gray has two columns leading down. One column for escapable physical pain. One column for inescapable psychological pain. Amygdale are the heads of the two arms of the caudate nucleus. The caudate nucleus takes the spatial information from the five senses and directs the motor-movements by signaling to the motor cortex like a puppeteer, innervating the location in the brain that tells each body part what to do. Autistics are over connected in the visual lobe and under connected in the mid posterior cingulate which is why they get seizures staring at things and can’t find themselves on a map or remember where they are. There is a special class of spindle neurons very large in the anterior cingulate cortex only in apes and humans which are made to signal very fast to the frontal lobe, this is for making predictions and self-referencing. When the cingulate communicates with the amygdale it is for first impressions. The caudate nucleus with the amydale heads sit like ram’s horns on either side of the brain stem. Under him is a second crown named the hippocampus, like two arms surrounding the pituitary gland which is dangling in the center of the open space. The hippocampus takes data from the eyes and ears to track how fast and how far the body moves over a time interval. The hippocampus has a clock which it uses to decide where you are there and when. Lesions in the vestibular system disrupt the brain theta rhythm which emanates from the hippocampus. That means if I don’t know my velocity and up-down left-right orientation I don’t know where I went. Degeneration of hippocampus volume causes chronic pain. Chronic pain causes higher cortisol which deficits the medial temporal lobe declarative memory system. Lesions in the cingulate decreased the sensitivity to pain. This is the pain system of the brain. The pleasure system of the brain is enclosed inside the pain system so that the pain system is the protective shell around the pleasure system. The pituitary gland and the hypothalamus are the pleasure control center of the brain and signal to the body to feel pleasure. The pleasure system is controlled by three hormones; testosterone, estrogen, oxytocin. The other key hormones are not driving pleasure only a supporting role. Testosterone modulates the frequency, duration, magnitude of erection. Oxytocin surges at orgasm, it causes ejaculation in the man and orgasmic uterine contractions in the woman. Damage in the pleasure center abolishes the sex drive. Injection of oxytocin stops the feeling of post trauma stress, specifically lowering the response of the inferior parietal lobe where hand to eye coordination is. In post traumatic stress the mirror network has been dampened. Oxytocin promotes mirroring in effort to promote coupling and copulation, supporting the role of the pleasure center.
